Do you want to be in the Swim Bike Mom book?  Now’s your chance.

Back in July 2011, I was twelve weeks out from my first (and only, to date) half-Ironman, and I reached out with a post entitled “Who Are You?”

I had been talking to so many blog “friends” and I wanted us to all get to know each other, so I put out that post and you guys responded with little blurbs about who you are.  Later, it turned into a huge Facebook discussion, which turned into 20 Things about us, and unfortunately, the thread was deleted by Facebook just in some maintenance and migration things (much as wonderful as Facebook’s new Timeline. Ah-hem.)

Anyway, here are some examples of the great things that you guys posted about who you are, what your goals are, and what triathlon means to you:

Leslie: “I also secretly want to complete a full [Ironman], I am thinking Cozumel November 2012. I will be 40.”
Jennifer: “I am a lawyer too. Contrary to popular belief, most lawyers are okay people…I turned down Harvard law because, well, they didn’t have Duke basketball… I won first place in the Athena division of last year’s Tri Rock Sprint in Rockwall, TX, much to my surprise. Clearly, the 150 pound Athenas had somewhere else to be that day. But the slab of rock I got for a trophy is pretty sweet.”
Kathy: “I am married to a wonderful guy for 28 yrs, we have a 20 yr old son who has a disability, and 2 dogs… I fell in LOVE with Triathlons. I always feel at peace during a Tri, more than I do at any other race.”

Bonnie: “Currently I am a stay-at-home wife (with kids) I say “wife” instead of “mother” because I want my marriage to always be the primary family relationship…. I am passionate about positive birth experiences for women and I plan on having a homebirth in November with my third child….I would love to hear “Bonnie-you are an Ironman” (even if my time is 16:59:59).”
Amanda:  My son has cystic fibrosis and was born with a congenital heart defect… A guy once walked up to me at a gas station to tell me I have great legs…I like to read, but haven’t finished more than 3 books since my son was born.”
Jenee“I’m a mom of two, a special-needs teen and a healthy toddler, and wife to an infinitely patient man. And I do mean INFINITELY patient. It’s like he’s not human.”
Cheryl: “I’m 41 years old, mom of 2 boys, business owner, vegetarian, and now I guess triathlete.”

At the time of the “Who Are You” post, I wrote that learning about a walk in someone else’s shoes is necessary, humbling and beautiful.  And I still find that to be so true.

So here’s where I am going with this. So the book. Many of you know that the Swim Bike Mom official Book is scheduled for a December 2012 release. I want to include inspirations in the book from all of you, just like the awesome ones I received before. YOU are the reason for the book, the journey and the inspiration to keep ME going.  I want others to read your inspirations too.

If you would like to be considered for inclusion in the book – if you would love to have a part in inspiring others who want to tri and who are tri-ing, please post a little bit about yourself, what triathlon means to you.  At the core… who are you?

Notes:
*I will add the responses in the book just as is, with only edits for completely botched grammar and length. Post with the name you want included Anonymous is completely fine as well. I would prefer just first names, otherwise.

*By posting on here, Facebook or Twitter, you agree to allow me to republish the quote in the Swim Bike Mom book. You also agree that I have the right to not include the quote as well, due to time/space/editor constraints. Please think short and sweet – Twitter-esque (140 Characters, or a little more).

*In order to be included in the book, you must complete form below, in addition to any posts on the blog, Facebook or Twitter. I would like you to share here and now, because that’s fun… but don’t forget to complete the form below with your quote for consideration in the book.  No form, no consideration.

Thanks, and love getting to know all of you.  You are ALL in my heart.
