Shonda Rimes (producer of shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal) has a great book called The Year of Yes,  where she, as a former ‘no to everything’ type gal started to say yes–to events, to invitations and more.

She basically started showing up to her own life, and everything changed for her.

I know that feeling.

I took some big steps on December 12, 2015 when I began to ask myself the questions:
What if I gave this coming year my best efforts?
What if I just tried to be the best VERSION of myself?

Up until that time, I was showing up to some parts of my life–like training and racing, maybe sometimes with the kids and spouse, but the rest of it?

I was just drowning. In so many ways.

With my commitment in 2016, I didn’t try to be anyone else. I didn’t try to live up to anyone else’s version of what I should be. I tried to stop comparing myself to others.

I just tried to get out of my own way.

2016 was a good year.

2017 was a tough year, but one where I grew immensely and where amazing doors opened up. So I can call it good, although very tiring and tough.

I decided that 2018 needed a new theme, a new flair.

For 2018, I decided to commit to a Year of No Nonsense–with myself and with others.

Somehow this idea has resonated with many of you, so I thought about a pledge, commitment and accountability group–why not spread the message of “no nonsense”?

No Nonsense is a very personal pledge.

It can mean different things for each of us–and that’s what makes it fun.

The Pledge

I commit to a Year of No Nonsense with the following. I pledge to:

Add your OWN commitments on the pledge

  1. I Love this!! 2018 I will do more than survive the races I do, be it Spartan, Warrior Dash, 5k, Half Marathon or IRONMAN 70.3. I will THRIVE! I will believe in myself and truly train. Use hide and prepare to fail!! No more being ok with being last because I couldn’t see myself as a winner.

  2. I’m looking forward to 2018. I change jobs on January 15th as part of my “take care of me” plan! I’m looking forward to The Year of No Nonsense! Thank you for keeping me moving forward. Love you!

  3. 2017 was a lost year. Where I was lost… Looking forward to the fresh start, and finding my path. In order to do that I definitely need to make sure there is no nonsense in my way!
