I recently encountered this on a trip.

This beautiful tree, with cards and ribbons hanging from it.

A sign, nearby, read: “A New Moon represents new beginnings and it is during this time that the moon is empty, receptive and full of potential. It is the optimum time to look deep within and discover your hopes and dreams.”  This gorgeous sight was named the

This gorgeous sight was named the INTENTION TREE.

I picked up a card, it read:  “Take a deep breath… feel yourself connected to the world around you. Imagine how you will feel when these wishes and intentions come true. Embrace those feelings as if they are

“Take a deep breath… feel yourself connected to the world around you. Imagine how you will feel when these wishes and intentions come true. Embrace those feelings as if they are reality. LIVE YOUR DREAMS AND ABUNDANCE WILL FIND YOU. During this New Moon, I open my heart and release the following intention to the Universe.”

I thought for a minute about what my INTENTION was, right then and now, in that moment, and I scribbled it down: “To help everyone I come in contact with, in some way, no matter how small… #makeyourmove.”

(Was that too big of an intention? )

I decided not.

And I hung it on the tree, with a pale yellow ribbon. I felt sort of voyeuristic looking around and taking peeks at other cards on the tree.

Then I realized from reading the cards that everyone, to some degree, had the same needs, the same intentions: to help others, to love, to be loved, to find joy, to find purpose.

I loved reading them all, and I realized that we are all so different, but we are all–at our core in need of love, purpose and joy.

And I was convinced, more than ever, that these things are rooted deeply in gratitude.

Wishing you an amazing holiday, and 2017.

With gratitude today, and always,
Meredith
