Best Race Ever

I know a big bunch of you are moms and dad (and many might just like animated features), but have you guys seen the movie, “HOME” ?

Well, it’s like one of my favorite animated gems–second only maybe to Despicable Me.  The beginning of the movie, the lead character, keeps saying “Today is Best Day Ever” and it’s been kind of a thing in our house now.  Best Day Ever. Best Day Ever.

Well, so yes I am back on board for Ironman Louisville.

(How is THAT Hail Mary training going? you might ask.   Well, I might say: it’s fairly interesting.)

But of all the obstacles and crazy that I have experienced in the last 5 weeks, I think I am MOST excited about this race.

This Ironman. Because why?

Because I have nothing to lose. Because I am glad that I am even WALKING after the bike crash and LIVING after the car crash. Because I have seen what Coach Brett has been through.

Because I have had a nice 103 mile ride and a 10 mile run–after not being able to run AT ALL a few weeks ago.

I am so happy to be able to show up and do the race.

BEST RACE EVER.

No matter what happens (whether they cancel the swim due to mutant algae, or whatever comes on race day)… I think Ironman Louisville goes down in the history as BEST RACE EVER…

Why?

Because I will have made it to the START line.  And that is more than I ever thought would happen at this point.

Rock it Swim Bike Mom! Definitely look forward to hearing all about it!
(And P.S. – After I read your “Triathlon for the Every Woman” book is when I decided that I really could do this whole triathlon thing. This year I did a Try-a-tri and a Sprint. Aiming for an Oly next year. If the day comes that I sign up for a HIM (or more??) and my husband complains long and loud, I’m totally throwing you under the bus and blaming it ALL on you! After all, your motivation, your drive, your commitment and your attitude are so incredible that it’s hard not to want to push just a little harder, a little farther, every time!)

I am so happy you are racing Louisville. I’m coming from Atlanta to volunteer. I will be at the bike out mount line and my hubby will be one of the wetsuit strippers! Good Luck!

Awesome! I think if we could approach EACH race with this in mind we would all be a little happier! I’ve really tried to embrace the gratitude of being able to swim, bike, and run this season and it has helped me immensely!! When I feel crappy during a run and I just want it to be over I think about how awesome it is to have the opportunity for my body to be doing this amazing stuff!

You can’t fail with an attitude like yours Meredith! I can’t wait to hear all about it!

Great attitude to have for race day! For the last tri I did, I had a very similar mantra…be brave, be positive, be grateful. Give it all you got and have a great race!

Sorry for being insensitive in my post when you said you were pulling out of this race. But, I’m not sorry for suggesting you should find a race and do it. I’m glad you’re getting to do this race. I’m glad you’re doing it. I’m glad it’s THIS race. The one you signed up for. The pain of not finishing will always be greater than the regret of not starting. But, you’ll finish. And it will be worth more than any other finish.

    God bless you and yours.
