Well, I guess it’s not officially a race report since I didn’t race.  But I was there, I was registered for it, and I am reporting.  Hence = REPORT (and other things).

The Pro Women taking off on the 2 mile run. The format for the race was a duathlon because of the cancelled swim – 2 mile run, 52 mile bike (shortened bike due to debris in road), and 13.1 run

Unfortunately, the swim was cancelled for the race, and the bike cut short by a few miles, but all in all, the race ended up being quite awesome and a beautiful day.

The always inspiring Pease brothers.

Plus, who can complain about being in the presence of racing greatness?

Yes, it’s true. We need more cowbell.

Coach Monster, Luke H. (New Hampshire) and Robyn W. (San Diego) had great races, and I am so proud of all of them.

Coach M bringing it home.  Ridiculosly amazing time of approx. 4:10:00. Incredibly inspiring to watch.  I imagine it would have been less inspiring had I raced, and seen him pass me 7000 times. 🙂
My girl, Robyn, heading out on the bike.

The day before and the night after the race, the Expert and I wasted no time enjoying NOLA and spending some amazing time with friends.

Rocking the Expo. Lke the Casbah, only cooler.
I think these are my size.  For arm warmers.
Acme Oyster House, New Orleans.
Robyn: “I love oysters. I love them.”
Me & the Expert. Happy times. 🙂
Post-race shenanigans. Even the bartender’s eyes were too fuzzy to take the picture.
Love. These. Two. People.
Expert.
Rooting on our peeps.

Robyn and her husband are mine and the Expert’s long lost twins. I have never laughed as hard as I did last night at dinner celebrating Robyn’s big finish.

Eric was the third wheel on our Super Fun Tricycle during the race.  As we waited for the transition from bike to run, we wandered into Walgreens, and Eric found a snack.

Hot pickle.

I got rid of Wilson, my boot, on Friday before we left, and I was told to wean myself out of the boot.  Take it easy. Time in the boot, time out.

Well… after 18 hours on my feet in New Orleans with the boot was still sitting in the car back in Georgia, and my foot/ankle looked like a piece of salted pork… but feeling okay.

But then I saw Wilson’s twin out on the race course.  Then I felt like a chump.

Congrats to my racing friends, and all who finished with flying colors! You. Guys. Were . Awesome!

Coach M.

Awesome race. I wish I could have raced it, but then you wouldn’t have gotten the free race photos.  All things work out for the best.

Cheers at the finish!
Robyn and her pace buddy, Lindsay – both ran the whole 13.1
The two best friends.
Bringing it home!
Awesome finish, Robyn!
Coming down the chute….to fast to catch on camera… Coach M!
Almost home!
The Expert, climbing fences to spot our friends
Coach M, looking sick strong at mile 6.
Always smiling!
Bike in, bike out.
Bourbon Street.  Yes, I am wearing the athlete bracelet. I checked in for my free t-shirt… Sue me. I needed my goodies. And like a good race person, I turned in my unused timing chip.
Woo hoo!
The 70.3 Finish Line…
Until next time….

Tomorrow commences training again. I will have to make it back slow (no running for a while)… I’ll go slow, but I am still going to just go….

  1. Awesome pictures!!! SO inspiring! I can't believe someone competed wearing that boot. I've had to wear a boot like that before and can't imagine running in it. That is just awesome! And…Coach Monster has some serious muscle!

  4. Looks like good times, without a doubt. Pease Brothers are bad azz, for sure! Needed some good race pics to get pumped up for my race this weekend! 🙂

  5. Great pictures! Great job cheering and playing photographer. Can't believe the race had to be turned into a dualathon…bummer!

  6. I love this! Thanks for posting a race spectating post.

And the girl in the boot… I did the WI half last year and there was a woman who did it in the boot as well! I spent 2 summers in the boot and my goal was to just be ahead of her through out and we kinda of played leap frog the whole time! lol
