Since the Expert is in Australia, I try to be the best “single mom” possible. Meaning, I try to wear out the children so they drop like flies by the time bedtime arrives.

This morning, after a 4:30 wake-up call to the sound of “twinkle, twinkle,” I realized my tactic did not work last night. I didn’t work them hard enough.  So today, I had a big plan:  take them to play, then lunch, then a surprise rite of passage.

So we headed to the gym.  They love Lifetime’s child center. Since today was a recovery day (yet, somehow I was still at the gym?), I thought I would do some work in the cafe while they played in the child center.  Just as I booted up the computer, sat down, and stared across the way…. at the spa.

Oh, massage.

With the excuse of “it has been so long,” I wandered over there.  They had a special.  Within fifteen minutes I found myself mysteriously wearing a lavender scented wrap and getting ready for a rub. I asked for deep tissue, as I always have, knowing that my hip and IT band really could use it.

Ten minutes later, this woman had me flying off the table from the pain.  Excellent.

The left leg (the one with the hip injury) was so unbelievably tight.  She worked my calves and IT band until tears were rolling down my face.  Seriously, second to childbirth: worst pain ever.  I could tell she was magic, though.  Because when she got to the right leg, there was almost no pain.  That told me just how dire ye old left leg was.

Check out the damage to just my lower leg. And this is only four hours later.  Tomorrow should be epic. Nice!

And of course, every Southern Kid has a rite of passage…  the county fair.

I took the kiddos after lunch. The Expert hates the fair.  Since he’s on the other side of the world, I figured he wouldn’t notice if we were there.  The trio had a great time.

Here’s a few of my fave pics.  (Yes, I do have clothes on in the above picture.) More pics here. I mean, I know you can’t get enough kid pictures. Really.

Tomorrow is a swim, bike, run “workout.”  I put workout in quotes because said “workout” is basically, an Oly distance tri with a mile swim, 36 miles on the bike, and a 5 mile run.

Wish me luck.
