WORKOUTS – Week of February 13, 2011

Sunday:
Bike:  17 miles on the road bike – lots of climbs (1:15:00)
Ab routine

Monday:
Swim:  1400m

Run:  3.0
The first half mile was scary, but then I found a rhythm and was able to pick up the pace to more than the last few runs (I know my speediness just blows your mind)…  I found I was able to control my HR by about 6-8 points just by trying to relax and think happy thoughts.  More importantly, the hip and hammy (and all the rest of me) didn’t hurt today.  Even after the ride yesterday.  The workouts today were the only good part of this eat-shit-and-die day… I hate Valentine’s Day with a burning passion. 🙂

Tuesday:
Sweet recovery.

Wednesday:
Spin class with Ironman M plus P90x Ab Ripper.  I hate you Tony Horton.

Thursday:
Strength Workout:
Hammer felt jam-up. All seems ok. Pushups are challenging for me…all my weightlfiting strength (what little remains) was never targeted to those muscle groups – it was all vertical movement-so I have always been weak in this regard. But I can tell a difference in just four strength workouts.

Run:  3 miles, keeping HR in Zone 2.

Friday:
Bike:
Spin class with Ironman G plus 15 minutes.  Hell on wheels. Literally.  I almost passed out three times, and lost sense of where I was twice.

Saturday:
Swim: 1600 meters (1 mile)
Yoga:  P90x YogaX.  Again, I hate you Tony Horton.

POUNDS DOWN THIS WEEK:
3 (15.4 total)

SUMMARY:
This week was exceptionally stressful at work and in general.  Managing to squeeze in my workouts was truly lifesaving.  My core strength is improving, the weight is on a steady decline, and I really am starting to feel strong.  We are in the 10 week countdown to St. Anthony’s now.   I will be ready.

THIS COMING WEEK:
Work is not improving as far as craziness goes, so I need to work on a good balance of life this week.  Goal is to keep moving, watch my diet, and just stay focused on the goal.
