I had no idea how wonderful smoothies really can be. I’ve been chugging whey down the gullet since my weightlifting days. I worked at Planet Smoothie in college.  But not until I realized that I was hard-pressed to eat the kind of nutritional punch I could blend into one big cup…did I really start to love the smoothies.

Of course, Ilana gave me the start with the Green Smoothie from her Boost Plan. But I have been experimenting and trying new things over the last few months, and I have found THE smoothie that I love. And I wanted to share with you.

Things I love about this smoothie:

1) It tastes pretty darn good
2) It’s packed with good stuff (protein, fiber, vitamins!)
3) I literally feel amazing after I drink it.  Placebo or not… that’s the good stuff. Especially after a hard workout.

So, here’s the recipe for my favorite smoothie! (It makes a huge cup.)

SBM’s Favorite Smoothie
1 cup natural coconut water
7-8  frozen strawberries
1 small banana
1 tbsp. Chia seeds
1/2 tbsp. hemp seeds
Huge handful of raw, baby spinach
1 scoop KleanAthlete Isolate
1/2 or 1 packet of Truvia
Blend and enjoy. Add water or ice if needed. I find that the frozen berries act as ice cubes 🙂

Klean-Nutritional-Supplements

I did a blog review of the Klean Athlete line awhile back, but I am now on my third container of the Isolate. I love love love the stuff.  Mostly, because it is completely allergen-free… it’s flavorless and without anything other than Whey Isolate.  Really good stuff.  Big fan because I am allergic to wheat, corn and soy—and it’s tough to find a good whey without a soy product or binder somewhere in it.

I have a relationship with Klean Athlete. Go here to read Swim Bike Mom’s FTC Disclosure and Privacy Policy.

  1. I’m hoping you will read this and can give me some suggestions. I have a chaffing problem with my stupid boobs. I used body glide (have for years religiously) but on my longer runs (8 miles or more) I chaff so bad from where my bra sits on my chest (the band around my chest) and then the underside of my boobs. I’m a 36-C and my boobs just won’t go away (I’m 5’10 & 155lbs-not exactly fat) I weight lift, run, bike, swim and am so frustrated. Any suggestions because the stinging, burning and rubbing from chaffing gets really old. Thanks!

  2. So excuse my extreme ignorance, but what does the whey do? I know I could Google it but I thought I’d ask you. Carbs?

  3. My favorite smoothie-two huge handfuls of baby spinach, half a cup of skim milk and a frozen banana. Soooo, good, even my kids will drink it.
