Today is a joyous day.  It’s National Peanut Butter Day!!!!  (“Did you know that it takes 550 peanuts to make a 12 ounce jar of peanut butter?”)

As an ode to my favorite food in the world, I am flashing back to last year’s peanut butter ode, in the style of “Forrest Gump”:

Anyway, like I was sayin’, peanut butter is the nectar of the gods. You can bake with it, eat it plain, put it on sandwiches – they’s um – peanut butter cookies, peanut butter cake, pad Thai, peanut butter muffins,  um, they’s chocolate peanut butter, and white chocolate peanut butter, they’s…um, Reese’s cups, Reese’s BIG cups, mini-cups, Easter eggs, peanut butter Twix, peanut butter Snickers, peanut butter M&MS, ants on a log, peanut butter pie….

And I am also asking any of you who might have contacts with Peanut Butter & Co. to PLEASE get them to sponsor me.   I need that sponsor. I need it.  Peanut buttttttter…

So in celebration National Peanut Butter day and my healthier eating (down another 2.2 pounds today… woot!)….  I am forgoing this:

…for small, reasonable portions of this:

…and keeping true to the nutrition with a little bit of love.  And logging my calorie (even the peanut butter ones) in Lose It.

And for those of you who are addicts (like me) and need the peanut butter without the consequences  make sure that you have tried PB2 – powdered peanut butter.

You can put it in Greek Yogurt, smoothies, etc… and even if you add water to it (just a dab), you can make oil-free peanut butter (40 calories versus 190).  It’s goodness in a jar.  You can get it here on Amazon.

Happy Day!!!

  1. I too am a peanut butter addict. We have ordered the original PB2 a few years ago. I did not know they now sell it on amazon. That’s great

  2. Have you tried My Fitness Pal? It is an app similar to Lose It, the big difference is the ability to scan bar codes on products with the camera on your phone. The app will then search it’s database to find the product and the nutritional and calorie content of it. So far I haven’t found anything that it hasn’t had. It also gives you the ability to add your own recipes and it will give you the calories per serving.

  3. So curious about great ways to use PB2. My fav snack is peanut butter on green apple slices. Wondering if I can replicate with PB2? Hmmmm….

  4. WOW. Powdered PB? That sounds amazing.

One of my favorite PB applications is the “Elvis” green smoothie: Spinach, almond milk, PB (would be better with the powder!) and bananas. Sooooo yummy and good for you, too.

My girls, however, are on a kick where they want melted PB drizzled over ice cream.

  5. I love me some PB!!! I’ve heard a lot of people talking about PB2… does it really taste as good???
