A nice foot.

A bad foot.
5th Metatarsal
Okay, so why am I posting this? Because it’s been almost two weeks, and my blasted foot doesn’t feel any better.  I keep running in my sleep and hurting myself further (or at least that’s what I am convinced).  So I obtained my x-rays and sent them on to my friend for a second opinion.

She says the alignment is good, so it will “fill in.”  I think that sounds promising.  But then I look at how much needs to fill in. If I eat alot of peanut butter, I’m thinking that the peanut butter is nice and sticky and will help with the fill-in.
I’m not convinced this is going to be speedy. At least not speedy enough to tolerate my poundage pounding on it.

I’m not sad. I’m not depressed. I think I’m indifferent (which perhaps is worse than love or hate), because there’s absolutely not a thing I can do about it.
I must stop running in my sleep though.  Tonight, the boot is coming to bed with us. And not in a sexy way.

Looking on the bright side of things… check out this picture I took yesterday on the way out to my car. The good Lord was shining light on my boot, I just know it.

  1. There is something called a bone stimulator that is supposed to help the bone heal. Some kind of ultrasound thing. Not really sure how it works. I think usually doctor's don't encourage it just because insurance doesn't always cover it and if you are patient, the bone generally will heal on its own (and I am sure there are other reasons…). Anyhow, thought I would mention it if you wanted to ask your doctor. My husband used one when his leg was broken and it seemed to help.

  2. har, har, har, hardy, har, har….Francis Ford Crappola….definately stealing that one….and the har, hars are from us teaching our kids to fake laugh tonite!

Sorry about the foot and you are right it is out of your hands….I think someone wanted you to slow down. Soon enough this will be a blip on your race calendar.

    Chin up.

  3. My daughter bought the bone stimulator on EBay and it def. helped her heal faster – even her doctor was amazed.

  4. Francis Ford Crappola and Poop Face are my favorites. I'm sorry that your foot isn't feeling any better. I know that it must be super frustrating because it's out of your control. I totally sympathize. I'm struggling with accepting the fact that I have to have ACL surgery #2 and be out for a good chunk of the year. Boo! But it will get better. You will heal and get stronger and swim/bike/run again.

  5. That sucks that you're busted up and can't do anything. It'll heal in time…hopefully sooner than later. Hang in there!
