21 hour countdown.  I know you guys are going to be so glad when this race is over.  This has been countdown-a-palooza.

(Yes, that is a stuffed animal.  SBM friends, meet “Charlie,” my sheep)

The head cold is in full force and I look like the spawn of Satan, but I am choosing to ignore it all. The weather seems to be smiling a little, after raining all night.

I received an email last night that changed this race for me.  A woman told me that her life and race was forever changed when she “decided not to believe the lies” – the lies about her efforts not being good enough, that she wasn’t ready for her race.  She said, with that simple choice, the newfound confidence, she crushed her race, and it changed her forever.

This was a valuable thing for me to read:  choosing not to believe the lies.

The lies from others, yes.  But most importantly, the lies in my own head.  Many of you have emailed, posted and messaged me with the same thing.  Thank you thank you thank you.  The encouragement is amazing and welcome, and I appreciate it more than you know.

The Expert and I watched the odometer on the Pilot turn to “77777” as we traveled down to Miami.  I thought it a stroke of luck, but also something about our journey together.

We bought the Pilot in 2007, with just a few miles on it.  I was pregnant with our first child.  And life changed forever once our son was born.  And life continues to change, by the day, by the moment.

If the “2007 me” could have looked in the future to see the “2011 me”… I think the “2007 me” would have laughed out loud and declared the future downright wrong.

No matter what happens tomorrow… I have learned a big lesson through this journey:

Don’t count yourself out. Ever. Anything is possible.

Love to you all.

I’m sure I’ll write later because I am B-O-R-E-D.  Keep the good juju, prayers and vigils coming for us.

“Sweet disposition
Never too soon
Oh, reckless abandon
Like no one’s watching you

A moment, a love
A dream aloud
A kiss, a cry
Our rights, our wrongs
A moment, a love
A dream aloud
A moment, a love
A dream aloud

So stay there…
And while our blood’s still young….
it runs
And we won’t stop
until it’s over
Won’t stop to surrender.”
