Thanks to SBM friend, Kathy, for sharing this picture from the Slacker Half Marathon Relay in Colorado this past weekend. Kathy ran while pushing her son in his wheelchair….AND reported that their relay team placed 5th overall! Kathy also reports that their team name was “Skyman’s Running Slackers.” Their runners were Joel (6:07 pace – wow – their Ringer!!), Skyler (her son), Kevin and Kathy. They ran from Loveland Ski Area, 11,000 ft to Georgetown!

Congrats, Kathy – you are a definitely a SwimBikeMom hero! Way to go!

Kathy sent me a race report a while back, and it was (shamefully) lost in my inbox.  But here it is!  Sorry for the delay! This isn’t the report from the Slacker race, but rather a sprint tri Tri For Your Cause. Here’s Kathy’s report!

Tri For Your Cause Sprint, Olympic, Duo, and 5k races were on Saturday, June 4th at Boulder Reservoir in Boulder Colorado. They put on an excellent race. Well organized, great support and volunteers.

It is a great way to race. Everyone races for a charity of their choice.  I have done this race for the last 3 years and it has really grown. On Saturday they raised over $62,000 for a variety of charities.

I did the Sprint Tri. I raised money for National Sports Center for the Disabled here in Winter Park, Colorado. My son has a disability and has skied with NSCD for 15 years. It is a Wonderful Organization!

Race morning, the weather was perfect, cool morning and no wind. A little hazy with smoke from the Arizona fires.

The water was cool, ~64 degrees but calm. It is a beautiful 17 mile bike ride through the farm lands surrounding Boulder Res. Finishing with a fairly flat 5k on the dirt trail that goes around the Boulder Res with views of the Flatirons, snow capped mountains and the lake. Beautiful! And thankful for a cool day because there is not a stick of shade on the run.

First race in my new age group… I’ll officially age up in a week, so always an exciting time. I finished 2nd in my New Age Group!

It is a great race. They have two other races. I am doing their Creek Streak Olympic Distance in July and am raising money for NSCD.
