Today was a 500m swim time trial on the workout calendar.  Swim 500m for clocked time.  I finished at 10:24, which to me, felt pretty fast.  If I could maintain that pace for 1500m, then I would think I could look at a 35-40 minute swim at St. Anthony’s, which would be awesome.  Of course, that swim is in open water, with elbows to the face, and other issues…but still, I think it’s a reasonable gauge of my progress and possibility.

I met Scott Rigsby today at the See-Me 2011 expo (Southeastern Endurance Multi-Sport Expo), a fundraiser for the awesome organization Getting 2 Tri.  Scott is the first double amputee to finish the Kona Ironman, and the author of the book, Unthinkable.  I saw him and he saw me…  we did that awkward kind of nod, so I walked over and just chatted him up for a few minutes.  I had three-year old James with me, and Scott commented that James’ hair was cool in a bed-head kind of way. Scott was very nice, and it was cool to meet such a great inspiration. I wish I had thought to have a picture made for the blog.  Poop.
