The Expert (my husband) is out of town right now, so this makes for too much time for me to think and come up with big plans and schemes. Last night, I was working on drafting a complaint interspersed with watching You Tube videos of the Ironman Championships. I could not stop watching, so I gave up the legal drafting around eleven o’clock and watched videos into the wee hours of the morning.

These videos are crazy. And inspiring, and I cannot imagine how awesome it would be to be there to watch.

This year’s championships take place on October 9th, and as always, in Kona, Hawaii. I was flipping through the DVR guide to see if it was televised, and I could not find anything. Bummed. But then I started thinking that I should actually go and watch. It’s only Hawaii, afterall. Only Hawaii. Bah. Yes. Yes. This is what we should do.

So, I look at Expedia. Holy cow. It’s suprisingly kind of cheap. Weird. I check again to make certain I was correct. Kind of cheap.

I send the Expert an email saying that we should go to Kona to celebrate our anniversary, my birthday and his birthday (and any other occasions for the remainder of the year). And I send this email knowing that he’s going to put the kiebash on my crazy idea immediately.

He doesn’t. And in fact, he’s apparently thinking the same thing I am: how inspirational, relaxing and interesting.

So…. maybe, just maybe….

Today Training:
50 laps in the pool = 0.71 of a mile. Felt rotten until lap 20, then felt great. Ended up swimming five consecutive lengths without stopping, which was a milestone.
